Announcing Political Theology 14.6: Miroslav Wolf’s Public Faith

The December 2013 (14.6) issue of Political Theology is primarily devoted to discussing Miroslav Volf’s A Public Faith: How Followers of Christ Should Serve the Common Good (Grand Rapids, MI: Brazos Press, 2011), which explores the challenges of Christian witness in the complex, pluralistic setting of our globalized world, where religious and political interests too often forsake human flourishing and the common good. Motivated by a strong commitment to religious liberty, Volf favours an engaged Christianity that contributes to, rather than dominates, the political life of the nation state. Offering their reflections on Volf’s text are Nicholas Wolterstorff of Yale University, John G. Stackhouse of Regent College Vancouver, Jayne Svenungsson of Stockholm School of Theology, M.T. Davila of Andover Newton Theological School, Julie Hanlon Rubio of St Louis University, Lenn E. Goodman of Vanderbilt University, David Fergusson of Edinburgh University, and Yasir Qadhi, Dean of Academic Affairs at the Al Maghrib Institute. Miroslav Volf provides a detailed response to the authors.
