Atiya Husain

Atiya Husain is Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Williams College. She has a PhD in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. A scholar whose interests span several disciplines, she has been on the faculty in departments ranging from Sociology and Anthropology at University of Richmond, to Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University in Canada, and now in Africana Studies at Williams. She is the author of No God but Man: On Race, Knowledge, and Terrorism (Duke University Press, 2025). Her work has been published in scholarly journals such as Social Identities, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, as well as popular outlets including Boston Review, Slate, and Adi Magazine.
