Christopher Tounsel

Christopher Tounsel is an Associate Professor of History and Director of the African Studies Program at the University of Washington. An historian of race and religion in the Sudan, his book Chosen Peoples: Christianity and Political Imagination in South Sudan was published by Duke University Press. Chosen Peoples was a finalist for Christianity Today’s 2022 Book Award in History/Biography and a finalist for the Association for the Study of the African Diaspora’s Outstanding First Book Award.
