Ebony Gibson is an Associate Professor of English at Georgia Gwinnett College and teaches first-year writing, creative writing, African American Studies, and the occasional literature class. She is also the founding program coordinator of the African American Studies minor. Her current project examines Butler’s Xenogenesis series and reconsiders the antagonist alien race the Oankali through the lens of Black Feminist Mysticism; this lens expands on Black Feminism frameworks of Intersectionality. She is reconsidering the role of spirituality in intersectional identity using Ifá —an ancient West African spiritual system. In the summer of 2023, Ebony was a Huntington Library Fellow examining Octavia E. Butler's archive.
