Leyanna Susan George

Dr. Leyanna Susan George is Associate Professor and MPH co-ordinator at the Department of Community Medicine & Public Health of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin, Kerala, India. She is a Public Health consultant who is also actively involved in research, capacity development projects and training of healthcare professionals. Her areas of research interest are infectious disease epidemiology such as vaccine preventable diseases, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, dengue, neglected tropical diseases etc. She also serves as the General Secretary of the Indian Network for NTDs.


Overcoming Vaccine Hesitancy

Over the years we have realized two things. One, the anti-vaccination lobby is very strong and they use social media to their benefit. Second, for any vaccination campaign to be successful it would require a positive socio-political and religious background.

From Myanmar to Mariupol, from the streets of Memphis to the waves and winds of the Mediterranean Sea: resistance to violence takes many forms. So does political protest against precarity. At which point does the unavoidable vulnerability of the living condition come to expression as political agency? Can such precarious politics constitute or configure an alternative community?
