Revd Dr. Rebecca Aechtner is the Vicar of St Paul’s Church in Lancaster, United Kingdom. Rebecca grew up in Canada and moved to the United Kingdom in 2007. Rebecca earned her doctorate in Theology and Ritual Studies at New College, University of Edinburgh. Her doctoral research was on socialist rituals in erstwhile East Germany and their continuation in the contemporary German society. Rebecca continues to reflect theologically on the issues facing the church and pursuit of justice.
If Christ is King, he takes on that role in order to subvert dominant understandings of power and its exercise. Christ turns power and kingship upside down and uses them for new and much more creative and life-giving purposes.
