Justin Reed

Justin Michael Reed is Asst. Professor of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible at Louisville Seminary and a Progressive National Baptist minister. In his research and teaching, he focuses on the ways that readers make meaning of texts, the consequences of our interpretations, and how the concepts of race and ethnicity relate to the interpretation of the Bible. We all learn ways of negotiating life from our histories, families, religions, and our broader society. These passages suggest that some of what we learn can be deadly to our siblings and our neighbors, but we can explore different visions of God and abandon the toxic ways of thinking that are so often deeply embedded in our world.
