CFA – Things That Make for Peace Conference

Around the Network

Proposals are invited for papers that address any aspect of “peace” from within Islamic or Christian frameworks.

United Theological College is seeking abstracts for its forthcoming Things That Make for Peace Conference. The conference will take place March 18-20, 2020 and the theme is “Peace Within, Peace Without: Theological and Philosophical Explorations.” The conference seeks to counter perceptions of religious violence, exploring texts and traditions that might promote the growth of peace.

The word “Peace” has a range of valencies: from inner peace to social and geopolitical conceptions of peace. Proposals are invited for papers that address any aspect of “peace” from within Islamic or Christian frameworks. Topics might include spirituality and peace, peace with the created order, inter-denominational peace, inter-religious peace, and so on. While the conference seeks to highlight Theological and Philosophical themes, proposals from beyond these disciplines will also be considered.

Abstracts (250 words) can be sent to arees@csu.edu.au. Further information will follow regarding registration.
