Political Theology Virtual Manuscript Workshop

Are you working on an article manuscript for the journal Political Theology? Would you like feedback on your draft from other scholars ahead of the formal peer review process? The Political Theology Network is pleased to offer a virtual manuscript workshop to help refine ideas and writing, and to build community. If there is sufficient interest, we anticipate that the four to six participants will each read and share feedback on each other’s drafts – we will conduct a scheduling poll to find meeting times that work for everyone.

Published eight times a year by Routledge / Taylor & Francis, Political Theology welcomes articles from scholars across disciplines, including religious studies, political theory, anthropology, and philosophy. Articles in the journal do at least one of the following:

  • Examine the explicit or implicit religious background to political movements, ideas, and practices
  • Examine the political implications of religious movements, ideas, and practices
  • Interrogate the way power operates at the intersection of religion and politics
  • Reflect on the tradition of political theology in a global context, including voices from marginalized communities and a variety of religious traditions.
  • Provide a bridge between discussions of political theology in different academic disciplines

While the workshop will be facilitated by a member of the journal’s editorial team, participation in the workshop is no guarantee of journal publication. All journal articles undergo anonymous peer review.

We welcome interest from scholars at all career stages. However, we are looking for article drafts (6000-9000 words), not unrevised or slightly revised student papers. If you would like to participate in the workshop, please send an abstract and a five page excerpt of your draft to Abel Aruan, [email protected], by February 15, 2026.

If you are interested in a regular virtual writing group, the Political Theology Network has one of those, too! Contact Seth Gaiters for details ([email protected]).
